Red Rocks Community College Celebrates WWI

We had a wonderful time last Thursday joining Red Rocks Community College for their annual event celebrating WWI.  Our representatives chatted with students, professors and the public.  We demonstrated our research resources and encouraged everyone to visit the museum!

Its not too late to become a member before our first ever Member Event.  We will be giving members a sneak peek of our newest exhibit which is the first in a series of exhibits focused on deceased veteran parents and grandparents.  The exhibit is entitled Veteran Forefathers and is a joint project between the museum and the descendants of Veterans.  We hope you stop by the museum to see it!

Special Exhibit

Visit the museum soon to see a special exhibit about a Pearl Harbor Survivor, Albert “Pete” Peterson.  He was on the U.S.S. West Virginia and lived to tell his heroic story.  His daughter now honors him through this display showing his time in Hawaii and his life afterward.  We put the exhibit up for Dec 7th and will be taking it down next month, come see it before its gone!

Closed for Thanksgiving Day

We hope you won’t mind if we enjoy the day with our families and friends.

The BVMM will be closed Thursday, November 24th in observance of Thanksgiving Day.  Please come in Saturday and bring your out-of-town guests with you!  We will have a wonderful Coffee and Conversation presentation and guided tours.

Open Saturday, regular hours, 9am-3pm.

Upcoming Program about Rosie the Riveter

Join us for this wonderful program looking at the role of women in WWII.

Rosie the Riveter

October 5th, 7pm

Broomfield Library, Eisenhower Room

But who was the real Rosie?  Was she just one woman or one of many who stood up to fill an important need and ultimately helped win the war?  Instead of a lecture, a local author, Shirley Jamiel, has created a skit of Rosie the Riveter which takes a creative venue of answering the questions many have asked over the years.  It is set in an imaginary interview by a recently retired television talk show host who asks, “Who are you and will the real Rosie the Riveter please stand up?”

Successful Memorial Day Commemoration

We had a great turnout yesterday for the Broomfield Memorial Day Commemoration.  Thanks to those that came and showed support for the museum, the Armed Forces and those that did not return.
